CHAMBER ENSEMBLE
German composer and cellist, Wilhelm Fitzenhagen’s AVE MARIA is a musical setting of the traditional Catholic prayer “Ave Maria,” which is based on the Hail Mary, a salutation to the Virgin Mary. Fitzenhagen’s arrangement is scored for four cellos, making it a beautiful and intimate chamber music work for cello quartet.
In Ave Maria, Fitzenhagen skillfully adapts the melody of the prayer for the cello ensemble, allowing each cello to express different facets of the music.
